Psychotherapy FAQ’s

Where is your office located?

The address is in the Southern Highlands neighborhood.

10306 Sterling Creek Street
Las Vegas, NV 89141

Do you offer In-person or Telehealth sessions?
I am a strong advocate of in-person sessions for at least the first couple of sessions, as I feel that it aids in the development of the therapeutic relationship. Telehealth appointments are also available.
What are your hours?
My office hours are Monday through Thursday, 12 pm – 6 pm.
Do you accept insurance?
I am currently accepting Optum and Aetna. If you are out of network (OON) with these providers, you may still choose to work with me, although your out-of-pocket costs may be higher. You would be responsible for paying for your sessions. I provide a superbill monthly, so your insurance provider can reimburse you.
How do you accept payments?
I accept credit cards, cash, and checks.
How do I set up my first appointment?
Call today to schedule your consult. If we both decide we’re a good fit, I’ll schedule an appointment for you then!
What is your cancellation policy?
The first missed appointment is a freebie, for whatever reason. After that, each missed appointment fee is $50. You’re allowed three total. After that, I will refer you to another provider. For your best life and my business, it is essential to keep your therapy appointments. I may not be able to fill late cancellations. However, if I CAN get you in the same week and if you attend, there are no penalties. Please be aware that I may not always be able to provide this.
What can I expect during the first session?
I always think of it as a meet and greet, an opportunity for you to sit with me in person and see how it feels. We’ll briefly review your current concerns and goals. I may ask VAGUELY about trauma and other uncomfortable issues, but we will not explore these in depth. There’s plenty of time for that, and I want to ensure you’re comfortable with me and have developed trust before getting into any sensitive areas.
How long does therapy last?

This length of time depends on you! This answer is probably frustrating, but the time depends on your goals and when you believe you’ve met them. You’re allowed to change your mind at any time.

I have clients that come in wanting to do intense work, which takes time, but they are ultimately SO relieved upon gaining stabilization that they opt out of therapy. On the other hand, I have clients I have seen for years who “pop in” for monthly or as-needed check-ins. Totally up to you!!!

How do I know if you can help me?

Usually, WE can determine if we are a good fit during the free 20-minute consultation. My advice is to always listen to your gut! Don’t feel like you’ll hurt my feelings if you don’t feel it.

I and MOST therapists agree that the most therapeutic success comes from the relationship between client and therapist. With the right therapist, you’ll be more willing to be vulnerable, take risks, and be successful if you’re in the right place with the right therapist! I HIGHLY encourage you to “therapist shop” before committing. You’ll feel better knowing you’re with the right person!

What will be my greatest challenge in therapy?
Showing up week after week (or whatever schedule works for you) is your greatest challenge. Also, doing the work (homework) is essential. Therapy is once a week, 1/168 hours/week. The more you work outside of the therapy session, the faster you will achieve the results you are looking for!
Are you an ally to diverse populations (gender, sexual orientation, weight, ethnic and racial minorities)?

Absolutely! It’s important to me to ensure that everyone feels seen, heard, and welcomed. I am an educated, middle-class, cis, heterosexual, able-bodied woman – all of which assume some degree of privilege. Other identities include being a POC (person of color).

My responsibility, as a feminist therapist, is to be aware of bias, mine and societal, to provide you with a safe space to be ultimately yourself. Therapy will also examine how your intersections impact your ability to exist and be authentic in a world not yet ready for that.

What happens if we run into each other outside of therapy?

Therapy is a very personal experience. If I meet you in public, I’ll offer a smile. Otherwise, I will be protecting our confidential relationship. If you wish to say hello, I will greet you in return. Totally up to you!

What are some fun facts about you?

Would you guess that I love to dance? (Astonished emoji face) While most people are self-conscious on the dance floor, that’s where I feel the most comfortable. Dance is my therapy. You’ll find me sweating out MY stress at Zumba, COMMIT, and other dance format classes. I am also a licensed Zumba instructor and currently substitute teach classes.

I have a set of twin girls, age nine. I love to be spoiled by my husband, who loves to cook. I love good food and traveling. I was the president of the multicultural club in college for two years and the drama club in high school for two years. I can drive a stick shift car. I’ve jumped out of a couple of perfectly good planes. I miss sailing. And yes, I have a tattoo and am considering getting the next one! Guess what it is?
